      Me to Daniel I am both afraid and excited at the same time. Like you all I can hear in my head is this melody, I don't know if it's a girl or a boy. I think it's a girl but from how hard it kicks my partner thinks it's a boy. All I know is that this song will make anyone take a step back and view the big picture. I hope you're still listening to it and you and your family are well and enjoying life. BIG LOVE

    There's something utterly transcendent about this music. It's the stuff that comes from a place where there's no distinction between sorrow or joy, tears or laughter. Raw emotion and reflection in the dead of night. Something about this feels like the coda to a life - the last thing someone hears as they reflect on everything they ever were, did or felt - and then at 8:45 it's like you suddenly wake up from the dream that was your life, and head out the door into the light as the dream - your life - gently recedes into the distance.

    I haven't been feeling like myself lately and today I had a mental breakdown in the middle of a crowd of people. Sitting here on a bus with my headphones on, this song is finally calming me down while the day is approaching its end. And I'm thinking, if this is possible ... if there are human beings out there who can create something like this, capable of transcending time and space until it reaches the soul of someone in need of a bit of peace... then this world is not so bad after all. Thank you.

    Its 2016.
    It's honestly a beautiful ambientwork.
    My whole house feels empty..
    I couldn't get over the fact that my dad died from a heart attack last year..
    I'm only 17.. I stayed happily with my parents and my siblings.. untill everything fell along with it..
    I no longer talk to my elder brother for being a douche who actually fought my mom and doesn't work to support the family after dad's demise...
    I got my mom a job.. she got fired.. I went and spoke to the manager and got her a job again..
    I'm honestly still a homeschool kid. hah. after all these, life's still beautiful..
    I have a girlfriend who supported me through all these.. after staying 16 years alone.. I finally spent 1 whole year with a person who's a female mirror of me..
    there's so much left...
    I have yet to start a family..
    to see little mini versions of her and me......
    . I don't know why I'm writing all these here.. but I felt like it...

    I always come here when I feel vulnerable, when I give myself permission to feel sad, when I need to heal. Life becomes so fleeting when you review it with this melody in the background. But at the same time it is full of moments, of joy, sadness, loneliness, but always with an air of hope. This melody touches your soul, disarms you, heals you. You start crying and you have a sense of gratitude for being here, for being a part of this experience. There is no time, you think about those who left, those who are still present, but you know deep down that we will all meet again, because love is the only thing that can cross dimensions and we are fortunate to experience it.
    //
    Siempre vengo aquí cuando me siento vulnerable, cuando me doy permiso de sentirme triste, cuando necesito sanarme. La vida se vuelve tan efímera cuando la repasas con esta melodía de fondo. Pero al mismo tiempo está llena de momentos, de alegría, de tristeza, de soledad, pero siempre con un aire de esperanza. Esta melodía toca tu alma, te desarma, te sana. Comienzas a llorar y tienes una sensación de agradecimiento por estar aquí, por ser parte de esta experiencia. No hay tiempo, piensas en aquellos que se fueron, en los que siguen presentes, pero sabes en el fondo que todos nos volveremos a reencontrar, porque el amor es lo único que puede atravesar dimensiones y somos afortunados de experimentarlo.

    I have been bullied since I was 4 years old up untill I was about 18/19th. Even teachers made fun of me. I am autistic and 10 years ago I had a psychosis that was even worse then all those years of bullying it happened because of medication. Now I work 4 days a week for 32 hours, I write poetry have loads of friends, been meditating for 10 years now. And I can finally say since 3-4 years I love myself and I am whole and worthy. Now because of lockdown there is no business for restaurants and such . But I still do a lot of other stuff and my work. After all those shitty years which involves probably about 66% of my life or more I feel proud that my customers love me and complain to colleagues" that they are at my work place and that I am free hahah cause they went specially to see me. I am now 33 years old. Unlike what common opinions is for me getting older is making life much much better, my young years were horrible compared to being an adult. So if your 15 , 18, or whatever age THINGS will get better. Stay safe and strong, people love you! This song is so beautiful. I feel blessed to have seen him live few years ago , it was amazing

    2010.. 17 years old, sitting in my dad's car in a parking lot waiting for my appointment with Corey, a psychologist. I wanted to discover some new music while I waited, somehow I wrote down Jon Hopkins on the back of this slip of paper which was marked with the date and location of my appointment. I put the slip of paper in my wallet where it remained still for 7 years until today. It's what this guy does best.
      Going outside the box. Doing what no one else has done before.
      True artistry. This guy knows what the fuck he's doing. His electronic music is in stark contrast to most as he is not a random ass mouse clicking person clicking around trying to find something that fits the song. He takes an ordinary object and uses it in either a normal or weird way, chops the sound all up of it and mixes it in with a bunch of other elements typically not found with electronic music.

    And all at once all our problems collectively subsided. A new breath inhaled as we look around our environment; eyes singing with hope as it takes in the beautiful colors and within this moment we realize.. we are alive. Our hearts delicately pumping blood throughout our bodies since the first moment we were conceptualized. Now the choice is yours, will you collect the light like a fluttering butterfly drifting into your hands, will you share this experience like the colorful wings have to you?

    i think the reason i like this song is that it sounds like an unprofessional work, but, like, a *really good* unprofessional work? i mean, the drum sounds don't sound processed, the melody is formed from just repetitive piano bits... but it all comes together really well, so it sounds like it's from the heart.

    • @maisboyfriend
      @maisboyfriend 8 лет назад +4

      That's a pretty interesting take because in contrast Hopkins is one of the very best at production that to call him unprofessional would almost be like a form of heresy.

    • @argonaut999
      @argonaut999 8 лет назад

      It's not that it sounds unprofessional as in "bad", but it has a rougher, less polished tone. Which is really good here! Hopkins deviates from his normal style, which is refined as hell, to give something a bit more raw and emotional.

I only discovered Jon's work in February of this year and grew to like it more and more as a soundtrack to the various intense experiences I have had with people. I've listened to his music crying with pain, and crying with happiness. I'm still amazed by the power of what he puts together.

    If i walk away would that be the start? A beating chest would be the beginning and miles of endless searching with just a touch and i must walk i must see this through a path i ended up taking alone. I gave you my empathy from the strings that flows over my fingers, my life was just my lil devil all tied up cut him loose the day you told me you wanted to move forward and past me so i kept my head tilted up to never fall to never give up a forward has to be my start. Love will be everywhere no matter what happens to us even if we did fell apart.
