Commission for Salorast
Their handsome charr mesmer from GW2, Octavius Scorchbind!
I was asked to paint a synthwave-inspired/styled background, which was a ton of fun because I love synthwave. I've always been inspired by the imagery, but have not had a chance to explore its aesthetic in my art (though I've been curious to!). Glad I had the opportunity to paint it here!
Thank you again Salorast!

I'd figured you'd have played GW1! But yeah, they were a DPS that focused largely on debuffs and degens/DoTs, posed as a mind-altering psion of sorts. Literally terrifying and mentally and emotionally wearing the target to the point of collapse. Now they're just sorta... glass construct shapers and reality-benders that distort things. All the destruction-from-within degens were reworked to CHAOS and ENTROPY magic.
I guess a large part of it is that GW1: Utopia's Chronomancer class getting scrapped caused a lot of what was supposed to be in that class to be reworked into GW2's Mesmer.

I wish I had known about it back then! It sounds like the type of game I would have been very into. I love characters that have the ability to manipulate minds, and stories involving psychological drama. From what you've written, it continues confirming what I've long suspected about the original GW mesmer!
